WEST CHESTER - nth Solutions LLC of West Chester has sold more than 800 water-saving LeakAlertors™ to customers of Aqua Pennsylvania through a partnership of the two companies.
“We are pleased with the response of Aqua Pennsylvania customers,” said Eric Canfield, President of nth Solutions LLC. “Based on the success of the program we will continue the offer on a periodic basis to educate Aqua PA customers on the importance of water conservation, the impact of leaking toilets, and how the LeakAlertor™ can help the environment.”
The LeakAlertor™ is the first fully automatic, electronic leak detection device for toilets that installs in seconds. Canfield said, “Considering one leaking toilet often wastes more than 100 gallons of water per day or enough water to fill an Olympic sized swimming pool in one year—unnecessarily wasted water is a big environmental concern.”
Aqua Pennsylvania alerted its customers about the LeakAlertor™ in September by inserting a two-page information sheet with the company’s bills. The LeakAlertor™ was sold for a promotional price of $14.95, which included free shipping. The special price is a $5 savings per unit.
“Aqua is dedicated to being a good steward of our environment,” said Aqua Regional President Christopher Franklin. “We are being proactive in issues crucial to the success of the water and wastewater industries. The LeakAlertor™ is an inexpensive way for our customers to save water and money.”
The special project showed that seniors were especially interested in the LeakAlertor™ because they can’t always see or hear the leaks and that the device prevents high water bills since it conserves water.
Property managers also have purchased LeakAlertor™ to use in their rental properties, according to Canfield.
Almost $2,000 was donated by nth Solutions to Aqua PA’s Helping Hand program. The organization is a low-income assistance program designed to help those less fortunate manage their water bills.
“A leaking toilet is the most common source of water loss in the home,” Canfield said. “Undetected leaks cause high water bills, dry wells and saturated septic systems. By using LeakAlertor™ residents can save money, avoid costly water bills along with expensive plumbing problems. According to the AWWA, one in five toilets in the United States is believed to be leaking. The total loss of water in the United States alone is estimated as high as five billion gallons per day, or nearly two trillion gallons per year.”
LeakAlertor™ is easily installed in seconds without using tools. The device works on any flapper-based toilet and detects leaks that can’t be seen or heard. Design work, manufacturing, assembly, testing and distribution of LeakAlertor™ are done in West Chester by nth Solutions LLC.
